First Light
I have to reflect on how our forefathers must have felt in November 1939 when Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative began serving electricity to areas in rural Oklahoma where no investor-owned company or municipality was willing to go.
A year ago, it was still a concept. Covid was closing our schools and businesses, forcing us to work from home. Our community reeled in the moment as the reality that broadband access was no longer a “nice to have” service, but it was a necessity and required an infrastructure to have. We listened, we acted.
With our mission statement of Improve Life, Serve Community, we made the decision and went to work. If true high-speed broadband access in rural Oklahoma was going to happen, we must do it ourselves and be the provider. Less than one year later, what was once a concept is now, finally, a reality.
We heard you. Our community. Our neighbors. We acted. We are live. We launched one of the fastest residential broadband networks in the country. Right here, in rural Oklahoma!
A year ago, it was still a concept. Today it is a reality, and we look forward to serving you!
We would like to congratulate Matt Moffat for being our first active subscriber and getting the first 2.4 gigabit service in our area! Thank you to Matt and the other 45 testing customers for all your help in our testing phase.
