Lifeline Assistance Program

Lifeline Assistance

The Lifeline program provides a discount on phone or internet service for qualifying low-income consumers to ensure that all Americans have the opportunities and security that phone and internet service brings, including being able to connect to jobs, family, and emergency services.

About Lifeline

Eligible low-income customers can qualify for a discount on their local telephone and/or internet services. Lifeline is a federal government assistance program.

Through the Lifeline program, qualifying customers can receive a $9.25 monthly discount on internet service, or bundled internet and telephone service, or a $7.25 monthly discount on telephone-only service. The discount for telephone-only service will drop to $5.25 per month starting Dec. 1, 2020.

In addition, eligible residents of federally recognized American Indian Tribal lands may qualify for:

  • An additional $25 monthly discount under the Native American Lifeline Program.

  • Tribal Link Up assistance, which provides up to $100 towards an installation fee. Tribal Link Up assistance is a one-time benefit per address. Read more about Tribal Link Up assistance here.

Lifeline discounts are not available in all areas served by CVEC Fiber.

Qualifying for Lifeline

You can qualify for Lifeline if you use any of these federal assistance programs:

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

  • Medicaid

  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

  • Federal Public Housing Assistance

  • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit

You may also qualify for Lifeline if your income is 135% or less than the federal poverty guidelines.
